Additional information

The MOSST training embraces a holistic approach to safe chemotherapy administration and management. The issues of safe chemotherapy administration, handling, toxicity management, and oral adherence are intertwined into the patient experience and our complex systems of care. The knowledge and skills participants will gain will improve the broader chemotherapy delivery system.

The MOSST program offers team-based education. Chemotherapy administration and management involves multiple disciplines—from medical oncology to nursing to pharmacy. Learning together and knowledge of each other’s roles can facilitate communication and team collaboration.

The training is based on scientific principles and clinical practice. Rather than presenting material in a standard lecture format, we will include diverse learning activities and topics. These activities include lecture, case study discussion in multiprofessional groups and multiprofessional clinical simulations. Project faculty carefully selected content and learning activities to closely resemble your daily clinical reality.

Our project brings evidence-based simulation methods to cancer education in a way that few projects have attempted to do. Uniquely, we pair nationally-recognized cancer care experts with experts in the area of simulation to create an innovative educational experience for participants that will give them both knowledge and skills to take back to the practice setting that will immediately impact the outcomes of their patients.

Prepares participants with tools for clinical practice change. MOSST empowers participants to assume the role of change agents and clinical leaders in their home institutions bridging that challenging gap by providing extended access to learning materials, the network of nurse and pharmacy participants, and equipping participants with strategies for successful clinical practice change.

Multiprofessional Oncology Safety and Simulation Training (MOSST) consists of a one-day workshop at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and online resources before and after the workshop.

The workshop is free of charge. To thank you for your help in evaluating the program, you will be reimbursed for your participation and for completing evaluations.
