Christopher R. Friese

PhD, RN, AOCN®, FAAN


Chris is the Elizabeth Tone Hosmer Professor of Nursing and Professor of Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan. He is a nationally-recognized oncology nursing clinician, educator, and researcher. Dr. Friese has focused his research career on measuring and improving cancer care quality. His publications on hazardous drug exposure in the ambulatory oncology setting renewed a national conversation about how to protect workers at risk for exposure and prompted several additions to the American Society of Clinical Oncology/Oncology Nursing Society chemotherapy safety standards.

Michelle Aebersold

PhD, RN, CHSE, FAAN


Michelle is a Clinical Associate Professor and Faculty Lead for Innovation, Research, and Technology Development at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She is nationally-recognized for her expertise in simulation as an educational innovation in health professions training. She is a certified healthcare simulation educator (CHSE). Her research program is formative in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing endorsement of simulation to augment clinical hours in direct care environments.

Shawna Kraft

PharmD, BCOP


Shawna is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. A board-certified oncology pharmacist, Dr. Kraft is a clinical pharmacist at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center and oversees the oncology pharmacy residency program. She is a recognized expert in supportive oncology care and management of patients receiving oral anti-cancer agents.

Karen Farris

PhD


Karen will serve as consulting faculty. She is the Director, Clinical Pharmacy Translational Sciences Graduate & Fellows Program, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She is recognized for her work in oral medication adherence, specifically oral chemotherapy.

Martha Polovich

PhD, RN, AOCN®


Martha is Assistant Professor and PhD program coordinator at the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing, Georgia State University. Dr. Polovich is a national thought leader on chemotherapy safety. She has co-authored the ASCO/ONS chemotherapy safety standards in 2009 and 2013 and she is the Oncology Nursing Society’s representative to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health hazardous drug workgroup.

Guy Montgomery

PhD


Guy is a licensed clinical psychologist and Director of the Center for Behavioral Oncology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health Science and Policy, and a nationally-recognized leader in cancer education.

Brenda K. Shelton

DNP, RN, APRN-CNS, CCRN, AOCN®


Brenda is the critical care nurse specialist for the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. With over 30 years of critical care nursing experience, Dr. Shelton has educated thousands of nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and others on the severe clinical issues faced by patients with cancer.

MiKaela M. Olsen

DNP, APRN-CNS, AOCNS®, FAAN


MiKaela is an Oncology and Hematology Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. She has published and presented extensively on the safe handling of hazardous drugs. Working closely with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) as an expert advisory panelist, she has written recommendations for safe administration of chemotherapy and adult intravenous push medications. Ms. Olsen is lead editor of the ONS Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Guidelines and Recommendations for Practice (2019) and co-editor of the ONS Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs Guidelines (2018).

AnnMarie Lee Walton

PhD, MPH, RN, OCN, CHES, FAAN


AnnMarie is an Assistant Professor at the Duke University School of Nursing in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Walton’s program of research centers on measuring and minimizing occupational exposures to known carcinogens, including antineoplastic drug exposures for healthcare workers. She has served the Oncology Nursing Society and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health as a content expert on a number of projects and publications and co-led the most recent joint position statement on hazardous drug safe handling between the Oncology Nursing Society and the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association.
